PINEAPPLE: THE INTERNATIONAL SYMBOL OF WELCOME

Did you know that due to its seemingly exotic qualities and rareness, the pineapple soon became a symbol of hospitality in early America. Because trade routes between America and the Caribbean Islands were often slow and perilous, it was considered a significant achievement from a host to procure a ripe pineapple for guests. So when you visit hotels and see the pineapple, now you know why. If you are anything like me, I have always enjoyed a nice juicy pineapple slice, but admittingly, was a bit intimidated by the look of it, and cutting it on my own was not an option. But since we opened BOL, I have become somewhat of a pro at cutting a pineapple and am no longer daunted by its exterior. As we strive to have not only fresh, but nutritious fruit and toppings, pineapples are no exception.
